This is unusual and extremely scarce. An original U. S. Civil War era Fife, as in "Musket, Fife and Drum", constructed of wood with a brass endpiece. It appears that the other end had an endpiece which is now absent. The fife measures 14 overall, originally made in a fine quality wood with brass caps on each end, although one end is missing. It seems functional but we don't know how
