Constructed of gilded zink with aluminum, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around an aluminum globe depicting the Northern Hemisphere, topped by a Viking longship cutting through waves, the reverse with a low set flattened rivet securing the obverse globe in place, with a barrel hinge and banjo style
