On 28 December 1917 when on route from Le Havre in ballast for the Clyde, she was torpedoed by German submarine UC 71 and sank. All bar one of the crew survived. UC71 was captained by Oberleutnant Ernst Steindorff, who is credited with sinking 30 ships during the war. Without ribbon. Good very fine.
