First seen in 1794, the "Eagle Pommel" swords were a fixture of the early years of the United States. At the time there were no standardized officer sword patterns, and it was mainly left up to the officer on the type of sword they wanted, as well as the level of craftsmanship. This lovely example has a 29 straight blade, with a single wide fuller on each side extending half way down the blade. The first half of the
