Raised in 1847 the X11 Bengal Irregular Cavalry was one of Regiments that rebelled against British Rule in the 1857/59 Indian Mutiny (Sepoy Rebellion) and many troopers fled to Nepal to avoid execution by the vengeful British Government troops that subsequently took over India from the Honorable East India Company in 1859 thereby bringing India directly under British rule

Browning used a second gun that not only duplicated the original trial

Included with our purchase from the old palace of Lagan Silikhana in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2003 here is very interesting P 1771 EIC Brown Bess Musket that has had the original 39 inch barrel shortened to 26 inches for the express purpose of converting it to a "Grenade Discharging Gun". These types of muskets were typically used at sea to launch incendiary grenades to set fire to the sails of any hostile predators.
