Original U.S. Civil War Officer's Dress Sword named to Brg. Gen. John Henry Hammond - Gen. Sherman's A.D.C. Snider Rifle Parts Attachment: Horizontal pin with catchOriginal Item: One of a Kind. This is an especially nice Officer's sword with a "Quill back" engraved blade, marked to have been made by W. CLAUBERG in SOLINGEN, Germany. The blade was then shipped to the U. S. and retailed by J. P. FITCH, NEW YORK. It was common during the time for retailers to order blades from Europe, especially France and Germany, as the American blade making industry was not quite at the same level for high end presentation grade
