There is still evidence of the gold breach bands that originally enhanced the barrel but the whole gun has been completely refinished and restored in Nepal and being in the old palace rather suggests it was used by the Nepalese Royal family in the 1850s

this is because WW1 slings were reissued in WW2

though there is a slightly darker blue applied onto the exterior only
