McCarty became a close mentor and friend of Smith along with everyone at PRS at the time. The original PRS McCarty was first released in 1994 in tribute to the iconic guitar builder. Today's PRS McCarty 594 builds upon the features of the PRS Hollowbody II. Carved figured maple top and back woods meet a mahogany middle body wood for a resonant hollow tone.
